Rhodovalley is located in Munnar and is so called because of the presence of rhododendrons in the Munnar hills. There are the beautiful grasslands of the ‘Silent Valley’ plateau at a height of 2,000 metres which is best suited for adventurous activities. One can find the endangered species of animals here. The tourists can conduct trekking in this place which allows him to get the cool mountain air, enjoy the streams and the blooming rhododendrons etc.
The ecotourism activities done here is the trekking camps. They start from the Silent Valley Tea Estate. There are 2 days and 3 days wild camps as well. During this programme the tourists can stay at camps in the forests.
Some other places of interest include the Orchidarium and flower garden near the KFDC Office in Mattupetty Road. Mattupetty Dam, Lockhart Gap, Kundala and Devikulam Lakes are other major centres of attraction.
The accommodation to the tourists can be provided at KFDC Office at Munnar. There are various resorts for the tourists to stay.
Rhodovalley is located in the Western Ghats at a height of 6000 ft above sea level. Near to it lies the Anamudi, which is the highest peak in South India. The nearest airport is the Cochin International Airport at a distance of 121 kms. The nearest railway station is the Aluva railway station. The roads are connected from Kochi, Aluva as well as Palakkad.
