Manimala River originates from Muthavar hills located near Peermede in Idukki district. This river spreads across the districts Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha. The river which has a length of 92 kms merges with the Pamba River in Alappuzha. Some of the main places which lies on the river banks include Erumeli, Manimala, Vennikkulam, Kaviyoor, Mundakkayam, , Kanjirapally, Champakkulam etc. There are also several pilgrim centers on the banks of the river.

This river is a water way of the Central Travancore. The place where the Manimala River joins with the Pamba River is a beautiful spot and the view of the water striking against the rocks is spectacular. The village Manimala is considered to be divided into two by this river.
