Thiruvananthapuram is connected to all places by means of roadways, railways and airways. The railway in Thiruvananthapuram district is under the Thiruvananthapuram division of Southern railway. The water bodies in Thiruvananthapuram are suitable for water transportation. But there are two tunnels at Varkala which obstruct the easy movement. The State Government has taken some measures to complete the project of International deep water container transshipment at Vizhinjam. With the completion of this project, water transportation will be made easier.
