Kadalundi bird sanctuary is located in Kozhikode district. It is located on a group of islands where the Kadalundi river flows into the Arabian sea. It covers an area of 3 kms and is bordered on all the sides by huge hills which are about 200 m high. Here there are various species of local as well as migratory birds. This sanctuary is also famous for the different species of fishes found here which includes crabs, mussels etc. Migratory birds such as Terns, Herons, Sandpipers etc come to this place during November and return after April.
One can also see turtles here, if they go out into the sea in a boat. The best time to visit this sanctuary is during the months December to April. Avoid visiting during the months May to July as this area receives heavy rainfall at that time.
