Pokkot Lake

pookotlake Pookot lake is a beautiful natural fresh water lake in Wayanad district. This lake lies between the mountains and is an ideal picnic spot. There are numerous tall trees surrounding the lake which adds to the beauty of the lake. The lake covers an area of approximately 8.5 hectares and has a depth of 6.5 meters. A tributary of Kabani river called Panamaram river originates from this lake.

Boating can be done here which is a memorable experience. Other attractions include a freshwater aquarium, Children’s park, shops that sell forest products and spices, snack shops etc. The freshwater aquarium has large variety of colorful fishes and is managed by the Fisheries department. The thick forest surrounding the lake and the calm of the lake attracts nature lovers and photographers.

The best time to visit this lake is during the months between August and May.
